Automatic Bag-in-Bag Packing Machines

A bag-in-bag system groups finished sachets, stick packs or small pouches inside a larger pillow or gusset bag. Inner-pack dimensions, stiffness and discharge speed affect how reliably the packs can be collected and loaded. Smart Weigh integrates inner-bag receiving, controlled feeding, weighing and automatic outer-bag forming and sealing. The configuration is based on the required quantity or total weight per outer bag, upstream output and finished multipack size.

Common Bag-in-Bag Packaging Challenges

Reliable operation depends on controlling the transfer between the primary packaging machines and the secondary bagger—not simply adding another VFFS machine.

Missing or Extra Packs

Total weight alone may not confirm the correct quantity when individual inner-pack weights vary. The grouping and verification method should be selected according to whether the outer bag requires a fixed count or target weight.

Speed Mismatch

Upstream machines may discharge small packs faster or less consistently than the outer bagger can accept them. A buffer and synchronized control signals prevent product shortages and line backups.

Inner-Bag Bridging

Flat sachets can overlap or bridge inside narrow feeding hoppers and chutes. Wider product paths and controlled feeding improve separation and discharge.

Outer-Bag Sealing

Bulky inner packs may trap air or remain close to the cross-sealing jaws. A matched forming tube and sufficient settling time help produce cleaner outer-bag seals.
